Co Curricular Activities

In order to inculcate a healthy spirit of competition amongst children and to showcase their enormous talent, the students of Modern Convent School are divided into the following four houses:

1. Ashok House
2. Subhash House
3. Tilak House
4. Tagore House

Each house has a House Captain and Vice Captain chosen through elections conducted every year in the school. The house system in the school promotes the development of qualities such as perseverance, discipline, fair play, sense of responsibility, power of imagination, joy of originality, worth of character, dignity of simplicity, obligation to duty etc. amongst children. Various Inter-house activities and competitions are organized as per the schedule given in the school calendar such as Music, Dance, Debate, Drama, Poetry, Extempore', Recitation, Painting, Rangoli, Quiz, Sports etc.

The house owes its name to the famous nationalist leader Bal Gangadhar Tilak. The colour of the house "Green" stands for Prosperity.

The school also has a student council elected by the students comprising of Head Boy, Head Girl, House Captains and Vice Captains along with the class prefects who shoulder the responsibility of maintaining discipline in class rooms, play grounds, corridors, labs etc. While conducting various inter-house co-curricular activities, it inculcates a sense of self discipline and helps in developing leadership skills in these students and helps them in being responsible citizens of tomorrow.

The creativity and hidden talents of a child need means of expression other than regular studies, to be brought to the fore. The school provides an opportunity to every student to explore his interests and hobbies by joining an activity club of his/her choice. "THE GREEN TEENS - ECO CLUB"

AIM - To create environmental awareness amongst the students of the school.. The Eco Club works in collaboration with Department of Environment, Government of NCT of Delhi and takes up projects to sensitize the school children to the environmental concerns facing the society and the world at large.The club has its own page on facebook by the name of GreenTeens.MCS ,where all the activities conducted by the club are highlighted.

AIM - To encourage a spirit of selfless service and to help inculcate values such as kindness, compassion , dignity of labour,, caring and sharing in students thereby contributing in their own small way to the overall development of the society as responsible citizens of the nation.

  2. To carry out successful campaigns promoting social issues such as eradication of polio, reducing pollution , anti - smoking, say no to crackers, anti - littering and anti-plastic bags.
  3. Visit to the orphanage, old age homes etc.

Activities that have been successfully organized by the social service club of the school

Global Voting 2008
To enhance social consciousness, increase awareness for children's rights and encourage empathy for the less privileged children of the world, the students of Social Service club organized "Global Vote 2008" in the school premises. All students of Classes VI to XII voted to choose their global leader for the World's Children's Prize for the Rights of the child (WCPRC).

Donation Programmes
The members of the Social - Service Club successfully organized a donation programme in the school in collaboration with Help-Age India for the disadvantaged older people

Communal Harmony Campaign and Fund Raising Week
A communal harmony campaign and fund raising week was observed in the school in collaboration with National Foundation for Communal Harmony. The students of the club collected funds and donations through distribution of flags in the school and presented a special assembly on the occasion.

 

"MC DAZZLERS - SPORTS CLUB"

AIM : The aim of the club is to give an opportunity to all student members to improve their physical and mental health by participating in various games and sports of their choice and to prepare them for the various competitions organized at the intra-school, inter-school, zonal and state levels.
